    Samuel Insull (b.1859 – d.1938) was a British-born American business magnate. He began his U.S. career as personal secretary to Thomas Edison.  Insull was an innovator and investor based in Chicago who greatly contributed to creating an integrated electrical infrastructure in the United States. He was also a patron of the arts, responsible for the building of the Chicago Civic Opera House in 1929.
