2023 Oscars Contest Official Rules
No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

This contest is open to legal residents of the United States, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Void in all jurisdictions other that those stated above, and void where prohibited.

Contest Sponsors. This 2023 Oscars Contest is sponsored by Westport Book Sale Ventures, Inc. (WBSV), a Connecticut nonprofit corporation d/b/a Westport Book Shop, and The Remarkable Theater (TRT), a Connecticut nonprofit corporation (together, the “Sponsors”).
Contest Participants. By submitting a Contest Entry Form, each Contest entrant is agreeing to participate in the Contest and agrees to be bound by these Official Contest Rules, and by the decisions of the Sponsors, which are final and binding as to all matters relating to the Contest. Contest Entry Forms are available at the Westport Book Shop at 23 Jesup Road, Westport CT, during the Book Shop's regular business hours, or click here to download a copy of the form that you may print out.

The Contest. The Contest will operate as follows:

Each participant must complete an official entry form and deposit it in the 2023 Oscars Contest Entry Box located at the Westport Book Shop, 23 Jesup Road, Westport, CT, between 10:00 a.m. (ET) Wednesday, March 1, 2023 and 5:00 p.m. (ET) Sunday, March 12, 2023. Any entries received after that time will be ineligible. Entries may deposited during Westport Book Shop’s regular business hours only.

Contest participants are being asked to predict the names of the Academy Award recipients in nine (9) categories, as announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

The three participants whose entry form correctly predicts the most number of Academy Award recipients, from all entries received, will be declared the winners. If more than three contest entries predict the same highest number of award recipients, then the three of those entries whose answer to the “tiebreaker” question on the form (what time will the Oscars host say good night) is closest to the correct time, without going over, will be the winners. If more than three such entries have the same time, then three winning entries will be drawn at random from all such tying valid entries.

Each of the three winners will receive a prize package consisting of (1) a ticket valid for any showing of the Remarkable Theater’s upcoming 2023 Drive-In Season, valued at $50, (2) a $25 Westport Book Shop Gift Card, plus (3) official Remarkable Theater and Westport Book Shop "swag". Each prize package has an aggregate retail value of $100.

All eligible submissions will be reviewed by representatives of the Sponsors and will be judged in accordance with these Official Contest Rules.

The winners will be announced publicly, on WBSV’s Instagram @westportbooksale and on WBSV’s Facebook page, Westport Book Sale, at Noon (ET) on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Sponsors will attempt to contact the winners, or an alternate if necessary.
Eligibility and Limitations. Each participant must provide their legal name, email address and telephone number. If a participant is under the age of 18, their parent or legal guardian also must sign the entry form, which will indicate their acceptance of these Contest Rules on behalf of the participant. Any person found to have supplied false information will be disqualified from the contest and forfeit their prize.
Only one entry per person will be accepted. If an individual submits more than one entry, only the first entry received from them will be valid.
Neither Sponsor is responsible for late, misdirected, lost or mutilated entry forms. If an entry is illegible or does not supply all information necessary to declare a winner, the entry will be deemed invalid.
All prizes must be claimed no later than May 31, 2023. If a prize has not been claimed by this date, the winner forfeits the prize. No substitution of cash or equivalent will be made for any prize.
By submitting their Contest Entry Form, each participant agrees that each of the Sponsors may use their name and likeness for promotional purposes without additional compensation. In addition, to the extent permitted by law, each participant agrees that each of the Sponsors may use the participant’s name and contact information to contact them for marketing and informational purposes. Sponsors will not sell, rent, transfer, or otherwise disclose a participant’s contact information to any third party.

Contest Winners / Winning Entries. The Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any participant and determine an alternate winner at random, in the event that any of these contest rules are not met.
Each prize winner will be solely responsible for any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes resulting from acceptance of a contest prize, and for payment any expenses associated with a prize which are not specifically provided for in these Official Contest Rules.
Should a winner die before claiming his/her prize, said prize will be awarded to winner’s estate, subject to all other applicable laws.
No purchase is necessary to enter or to win. Odds of winning depend on the volume of correct contest entries received.
Decisions by the Sponsors regarding winners and all contest details are final and binding in all respects. If the conduct or outcome of the contest is affected by human error, any mechanical malfunctions or failures of any kind, intentional interference, or any event beyond the control of the Sponsors, the Sponsors reserve the right to terminate the contest, or make such other decisions regarding the outcome as the Sponsors deem appropriate.
In accepting a prize, the winner accepts to take the prize as outlined in the Contest promotion. If a winner is not able or chooses not to accept a prize “as is”, the winner forfeits their prize. In such case, the Sponsors reserve the right to select another winner.
Each winner agrees to accept all blackout dates, space availability requirements, etc. established by The Remarkable Theater.
Each winner, by acceptance of their prize, agrees to release each of the Sponsors, together with their respective affiliates, directors, officers and employees, from any liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses of any kind to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt or use of prize or while traveling to or from any prize-related activity.
Miscellaneous. All Federal, State and Local laws and regulations shall apply. The conduct of the Contest is governed by the applicable laws of the state of Connecticut and the United States of America, which take precedence over any rule to the contrary herein. This Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
If any portion of these Official Contest Rules is determined to be unenforceable due to any applicable federal, state or local law, all other portions of these Rules shall remain in effect.
The Sponsors retain the right to amend these Rules at any time for any reason, without notice or prior notification.
