Westport Book Shop's First Art Exhibit of the New Year -- Artwork by Ken Runkel

Westport, CT, January 2, 2024 — The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome as guest exhibitor at the book shop's Drew Friedman Art Place for the month of January, local artist Ken Runkel. Ken is exhibiting nine artworks from his current portfolio.

Ken describes himself as a digital photographer, photoshop artist, and A.I. explorer with an unusual imagination, and sometimes twisted sense of humor.  His work ranges in subject from nature, landscapes and waterscapes, to abstracts and surrealistic images.

Ken enjoyed a four-decade career in advertising, corporate identity development, and brand consulting with major, top-tier international firms serving Fortune 100 clients worldwide.  Following his retirement from the corporate world in 2017, Ken began focusing on digital photography, and the adjoining world of digital post-production editing.  More recently, he has been exploring, experimenting, and learning the power of artificial intelligence, and how it can expand visual creativity, capabilities and the realization of digital image creation.

The Westport Book Shop will hold a reception for Ken and his exhibit on Wednesday evening, January 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop at 203-349-5141 or by email to bookshop@westportbooksaleventures.org

Ken Runkel's artwork will be on exhibit at the Book Shop through January 31, 2024. All work on display is available for purchase.

Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit independent used book store, is downtown Westport’s only source for gently used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and audio books. It is located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library.

The Book Shop’s “Drew Friedman Art Place” is an area of the store dedicated to exhibiting the work of community artists year-round, on a rotating basis. Miggs Burroughs, a Trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center, and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport, curates these exhibits, which change monthly.
