Westport, CT, June 1, 2024 -- The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome as guest exhibitor at the Book Shop's Drew Friedman Art Place for the month of June, local multimedia artist Dorothy Robertshaw. Dorothy is exhibiting a variety of assemblages and paintings, some evoking the seashore, and all inspired by nature.
Dorothy has been passionate about art since earliest childhood. Inspired by nature, Dorothy paints from her imagination to create richly textured, exuberantly colorful waterscapes and landscapes she sees in her mind’s eye. She works in a large range of media, including oil, acrylic, encaustic wax, pastel, wood, glass and mixed media.
Dorothy has also enjoyed a long career in interior design. She says that her art practice inspires her work as an interior designer, and feels that art is often the center jewel of a room.
Dorothy Robertshaw graduated cum laude in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and is an accredited member of the American Society of Interior Design. She is also a member of the Artists Collective of Westport, and the St. Philips Artists’ Guild based in Norwalk. Her artwork is in many private collections in the United States and Europe.
The Westport Book Shop will hold a reception for Dorothy and this exhibit on Thursday evening, June 13, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop at 203-349-5141 or by email to bookshop@westportbooksaleventures.org

Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit independent used book store, is downtown Westport’s only source for gently used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and audio books. It is located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library.
The Book Shop's Drew Friedman Art Place is an area of the store dedicated to exhibiting the work of community artists year-round, on a rotating basis. Miggs Burroughs, a Trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport, curates these exhibits, which change monthly.
