Transforming Stacks to Smiles - I Can't Wait for the Big Fall Book Sale!

When I signed up to volunteer at the Westport Library Book Sale last spring, I knew I’d be surrounding myself with books—what I didn’t realize was just how much pure community joy I was about to experience.

From helping set up tables in the days leading up to the sale, to standing back and seeing rooms filled to the brim with loved books, CDs, DVDs, vintage vinyl, and framed artwork, the transformation was incredible. But the real magic started when the doors opened.

The energy in the building was unbelievable! I watched shoppers on a mission, hunting through rows of treasures to find that rare vinyl record for their collection or striking art pieces to brighten up a home office. I chatted with one couple gathering beautiful hardcover classics to use as unique favors for their upcoming wedding! And then there was the children’s room—watching kids walk in with wide eyes and pure awe, ready to discover their next favorite story, was enough to melt anyone's heart.

Knowing that every single smile, purchase, and volunteer hour directly supports the Westport Book Shop’s mission of providing meaningful employment for adults with disabilities (and supports our beloved Westport Library!) made the experience mean so much more.

Now, as autumn sets in, I’m getting excited to do it all over again for the Big Fall Book Sale (November 6–9)!

Some insider tips!

If you want first dibs on the incredible selection before general admission opens, you can grab an Early Access ticket for Friday morning, November 6th (from 8:45 AM to Noon). Tickets are $38 each and go on sale online starting Wednesday, October 21st. Find the ticket link here on the Westport Book Sale website. It’s a wonderful way to get early access to thousands of books, as well as CDs, DVDs, and jigsaw puzzles, while giving extra support to a great cause.
On Sunday, the Book Sale opens at 11am before the full Library does at 1pm. You don't have to wait for the Library's typical hours to come and shop the (almost everything) half price day!
