Westport Book Shop Welcomes Max Saperstein for August 2023 Art Exhibit

The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local photographer Max Saperstein as guest art exhibitor for the month of August, at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place. Max is exhibiting a variety of photographs taken near and far, from the Westport Farmers Market, to Italy, and places in between.

Mostly inspired by nature, but also by architecture, Max seeks to capture beauty wherever he finds it.

Max is a rising Junior at Staples High School, where he serves as the Photography Director of Inklings, the school newspaper. He is a second place winner of the Westport PTA's 2023 Reflections Art Contest, and he received special recognition in the Congressional Institute's 2023 Congressional Art Competition.

Max Saperstein's work will be on exhibit at the Book Shop through August 31, 2023. All pieces on display are available for purchase.

Max has stated that he intends to use his proceeds to support a philanthropic photography project that he calls "Max's Magic" -- Max takes portraits of children who are facing challenges and, using photoshop, transforms them into images of superheroes, or sports stars, or fictional characters, or however the child would like to see themselves. In the end, the child receives an uplifting inspirational photograph. "Seeing themselves in fun places doing fun activities brings a smile to their faces and helps give them a break from the challenges they face," said Max.

The Westport Book Shop’s “Drew Friedman Art Place” is an area of the store dedicated to exhibiting the work of community artists year-round, on a rotating basis. Miggs Burroughs, a Trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center, and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport, curates the Book Shop's art exhibits, which change monthly.
