Westport Book Shop Features Local Artist Gregg Ziebell for August Art Exhibit

The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local artist Gregg Ziebell as guest exhibitor for the month of August at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place.  The exhibition showcases a collection of Gregg’s original oil paintings, including still lifes, landscapes, and seascapes.

Gregg describes his work as Contemporary Impressionism.  “Life is my inspiration. I begin with what I see in the world around me, then weave my emotions into each work.  This creates an impressionistic style designed not only to capture a moment, but also to evoke an emotional response.  My greatest joy is knowing that the emotions I feel while creating can be experienced by others through my art,” said Gregg.

Gregg earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati, and also studied Advertising, Layout and Design at the GSAA Commercial School of Art.  He continues to expand his artistic practice through classes and workshops at the Silvermine Arts Guild in Connecticut.

After a successful career as a graphic designer specializing in fashion layout and design, Gregg has devoted himself to his lifelong passion for painting.  He is a longtime active member of The Artists Collective of Westport, and his work has been exhibited throughout Fairfield County at numerous venues, including The Westport Library, Weston Library, Beachwood Arts Center, the Lockwood-Matthews Mansion Museum, and the Redding Library.

The Westport Book Shop invites the community to meet Gregg and celebrate this exhibition at an artist reception on Thursday evening, August 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop by phoning 203-349-5141 or sending an email to RSVP@westportbooksaleventures.org

Gregg Ziebell’s artwork will be on exhibit at the Westport Book Shop through August 31, 2026.  All artwork on display is available for purchase.

The art exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop’s regular business hours: Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m.

The Westport Book Shop is located at 23 Jesup Road in downtown Westport, right across Jesup Green from The Westport Library.  It is a nonprofit independent used bookstore offering gently used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs and DVDs.  Its mission is to provide inclusive employment and job training for adults with special needs, while raising funds to support The Westport Library.  Through its work, the Book Shop strengthens community, fosters literacy, and inspires lifelong learning and a love of reading.

The Book Shop’s “Drew Friedman Art Place” is a dedicated gallery space within the store that features the work of community artists, on a rotating basis; exhibits change monthly.  The exhibits are curated by Miggs Burroughs, a Trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center, and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport.
