Westport, CT, November 02, 2026  —  The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local artist Jason Pritchard as guest exhibitor for the month of November at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place.  Jason is exhibiting “See You at Compo,” a series of new original oil paintings of Westport’s shoreline.

Connecticut artist Jason Pritchard paints the New England shoreline, working both en plein air and in the studio to capture its light, weather and quiet moments.  “See You at Compo” follows his 2024 “Westport Skies” exhibition at The Westport Library, where most of the paintings sold.

“I’ve been coming to Compo since my kids were little.  One of the paintings in the show, “History through Young Eyes,” started with my son looking up at the cannons on the beach where British troops landed in 1777.  Born in Britain myself, I was struck by how differently history looks to a child.  I hope people feel their own connections in these paintings,” said Pritchard.

After moving to the United States in 2005, Jason studied oil painting at The Art Students League of New York.  In 2020, Cape Cod Art Magazine named Pritchard as an Emerging Artist in its annual spotlight edition.  Jason’s paintings have been exhibited in New York City, Long Island, and throughout Connecticut.

The Westport Book Shop invites the community to meet Jason Pritchard and celebrate this exhibition at a reception on Thursday evening, November 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop by phoning 203-349-5141 or sending an email to RSVP@westportbooksaleventures.org

Jason Pritchard’s artwork will be on exhibit at the Westport Book Shop through November 30, 2026.  All artwork on display is available for purchase.

The art exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop’s regular business hours: Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m.

The Westport Book Shop is located at 23 Jesup Road in downtown Westport, right across Jesup Green from The Westport Library.  It is a nonprofit independent used bookstore offering gently used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs and DVDs.  Its mission is to provide inclusive employment and job training for adults with disabilities, while raising funds to support The Westport Library.  Through its work, the Book Shop strengthens community, fosters literacy, and inspires lifelong learning and a love of reading.

The Book Shop’s “Drew Friedman Art Place” is a dedicated gallery space within the store that features the work of community artists, on a rotating basis; exhibits change monthly.  The exhibits are curated by Miggs Burroughs, a Trustee of the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center, and a founding member of The Artists Collective of Westport.
