Celebrate with acclaimed children's author Lauren Tarshis!

The Westport Book Shop’s 5th Anniversary celebration continues, with a special presentation and book signing by Lauren Tarshis, best-selling author of the hugely popular I Survived children’s book series, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Westport Library.

The I Survived series is an historical fiction collection for young readers that brings some of the world’s most extraordinary events to life through the eyes of resilient young characters who face unimaginable disasters, and live to tell the tale.

Lauren Tarshis will discuss her latest I Survived stories, including her newest chapter book, I Survived the Dust Bowl, 1935, and will share insights into her research and writing process.

This is a ticketed event, with all proceeds benefitting the Westport Book Shop and its nonprofit mission, to provide meaningful, competitive employment and job training for adults with disabilities, while raising funds for The Westport Library.

Children’s tickets are $10 and include one I Survived book. Adult chaperone tickets, or tickets for attendees who do not wish to receive a book, are $5. Children under age 5 may attend free but must be registered in advance.

Before the presentation, attendees may participate in an optional I Survived–themed Kahoot! trivia game. The first-place winner will receive a one-hour Sunday morning session with Tarshis at the Westport Book Shop for the winner and four guests. Second- and third-place winners will receive I Survived and Westport Book Shop prize bundles. Participants must be present to win.

To play the Kahoot! trivia game, participants must bring their own internet-enabled phone, tablet, or laptop, and log in at kahoot.it or download the Kahoot! app. Ticket holders will receive the Game PIN at the start of the event.
