October 1, 2024 --- The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local artist Jeffrey Earls of J Wilder Art as guest exhibitor for the month of October at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place. Jeffrey will be exhibiting a selection of his vibrant abstract artworks, created through experimentation with pigments in suspension and the resulting organic images.
Jeffrey Earls is a self-taught artist driven by an insatiable curiosity and profound admiration for the groundbreaking works of both legendary abstract expressionist painters and trailblazing 20th-century photographers. His artistic journey finds its roots in a childhood steeped in the influences of art, music, and writing.
With this series of abstract prints, Jeffrey explores randomness and the unconscious outcomes with color.
The artworks on exhibit are printed on specially treated aluminum. Aluminum prints produce deeply saturated, highly intense images. Dye subliminated prints are produced on specifically coated aluminum. The image is printed onto a sheet of paper and then is transferred from the paper to the specifically coated substrate through a process of heat and pressure until it is infused into the surface. What you are left with is a highly vibrant and clear, high resolution HD aluminum print.
The Westport Book Shop will hold a reception for Jeffrey’s exhibit on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop at 203-349-5141 or by email to bookshop@westportbooksaleventures.org
Jeffrey Earls’ artwork will be on exhibit at the Book Shop through October 31, 2024. All work on display is available for purchase. The art exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop’s regular business hours: Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m.

The Book Shop’s “Drew Friedman Art Place” is an area of the store dedicated to exhibiting the work of community artists year-round, on a rotating basis.
