Westport Book Shop Welcomes Photographer Michael Tomashefsky for November Art Exhibit

Updated: Nov 6

November 1, 2024 --- The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome local photographer Michael Tomashefsky as guest exhibitor for the month of November at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place.  Michael will be exhibiting a selection of his photographs of local area scenescapes.

Michael Tomashefsky is an award-winning landscape and travel photographer with a lifelong passion for the great outdoors.

Through his photography, he aims to convey the majesty and the beauty of nature and the places he’s been privileged to visit.

Michael was raised in Rockland County, New York and spent much of his youth exploring the many acres of undeveloped woods near his home and admiring the lush streams, swamps, and towering trees and wildlife they showcased.  He got his first camera at the age of 8 and was hooked right away on its creative possibilities.  At this time, he was also exposed to iconic landscape painters such as Claude Lorraine, Jacob van Ruisdael, John Constable,Thomas Cole and Asher Durand.  He credits their works along with the Impressionists with informing his understanding of subject selection, framing, perspective, and lighting.  His hope is to bring some of the magic he’s learned from these artists to the viewer.

The Westport Book Shop will hold a reception for Michael and his exhibit on Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Space is limited; please RSVP to the Book Shop at 203-349-5141 or by email to bookshop@westportbooksaleventures.org

Michael Tomashefsky’s photography will be on exhibit at the Book Shop through November 30, 2024. The exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop’s regular business hours:  Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m. All work on display is available for purchase.
